Firstly, the municipality must develop or redefine its vision of

waste management, through a comprehensive roadmap for waste

prevention, recycling, composting and disposal. In MED-InA, the

expertise of JUST supported the 3 pilot towns in this respect.

The project’s method is to combine the efforts of all local

stakeholders (citizens, associations, industries, businesses, etc.). This

participatory process has a number of objectives:

Promoting information, awareness and social consciousness on

the issue of waste

Achieving maximum social and political consensus

Involving citizens in waste management and reduction

Working together to design the foundations for the local waste

management plan

In the medium term, achieving sustainable waste management

through reduction, priority sorting and collection, recycling,

proximity and optimisation of public management.
