1 - What is Zero Waste ?
Zero Waste is «the preservation of all resources through the responsible
production, consumption, reuse and recovery of products, packaging and
materials without incineration and without discharges into the soil, water
or air which are likely to harm the environment or human health»

.
Traditional waste management is linear and based on the «extract-
manufacture-consume-dispose» use of resources.
With Zero Waste, the idea is to consider all materials as resources
and not as waste; to close the loop, stimulate circularity in all areas
and make the most of resources. This means changing our culture
to limit the consumption of materials and energy, redesigning
infrastructure to take account of the Zero Waste pyramid
priorities, and involving the community in the design of a resource
management system that promotes waste reduction through its
active participation and education.
